Our unique commitment as a brand is to be traceable and transparent across every stage of our supply chain– from fibre to finished garment– ensuring integrity and accountability at every step.
At AKYN, we consider the impact of every element when designing and creating, and to help you to understand some of these design decisions, we’ve clearly outlined the sustainable attributes of each garment on the product details page. This gives you the power to make informed choices about the clothes you’re purchasing.

This means that the garment is crafted from fibres that are found in nature– from plants, animals, or minerals– which have been spun into threads or yarns to make biodegradable textiles.
These are natural fibres derived from plants or animals that are grown and processed without synthetic chemicals, pesticides, or GMOs, following organic farming standards. These fibres are biodegradable, renewable, and offer benefits like reduced pollution, safer working conditions, and improved soil health.
These are plant-based fibres derived from renewable botanical sources such as wood, leaves, seeds, or stems. They can be either natural (like cotton, flax, hemp, and jute) or man-made cellulosic fibres (like viscose, modal, and lyocell) that are created by processing plant cellulose through chemical methods. While natural botanic fibres are directly harvested and spun into yarn, man-made ones involve dissolving the cellulose and regenerating it into fibre form
Our wool is always Mulesing Free or bought under Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). Where we don’t have the RWS certification, this is due to small batch production.
These products contain recycled fibres that have been created from materials that were previously used, like discarded clothing, plastic bottles, or industrial waste. These materials are processed and transformed into new fibres, yarn, or fabric, such as recycled nylon (made from discarded fishing nets) or recycled cotton (made from textile waste).
Regenerative cotton is cotton grown using regenerative agriculture practices that aim to restore and enhance soil health, increase biodiversity, improve water retention, and capture carbon from the atmosphere. Unlike conventional or even organic cotton, regenerative cotton focuses not just on avoiding harmful inputs but on actively improving the ecosystem where it is grown.
Our undyed fabrics are in their naturally beautiful, raw state, avoiding the addition of unnecessary chemicals and dyes to the process.
Our botanic fibres are certified TENCEL™ lyocell from Lenzing group, and derive from the sustainably sourced, renewable raw material, wood. They are then produced in an environmentally responsible process, reusing up to 99% of the water & solvents needed for the process. TENCEL™ lyocell fibres are designed to be compostable & biodegradable at the end of the garment’s life cycle.
These products are made entirely in Europe, from the fabric to finished garment.
We always aim to transport our garments from the factories to our London atelier by road.
