A hero piece of our debut Collection 001, our Elsie jacket perfectly exemplifies everything that AKYN stands for – a refined, contemporary interpretation of a classic wardrobe staple, crafted ethically and locally using premium natural, best practice fibres, with elevated detailing to give it – as Tiffanie Darke puts it – ‘just enough edge to get you noticed’.
Here’s how our hero Elsie Jacket was made…
"In true Powney style, outerwear takes centre stage in the debut collection. A standout? This sculptural blazer crafted from undyed brown wool – a modern classic that’s even better worn head-to-toe with the matching trousers."
– Lauren Cunningham, Marie Claire
DESIGN
Elsie is our collarless, tailored blazer. When worn with coordinating Perla trousers, Elsie forms our reimagining of the iconic power suit – contrasting masculine shapes with feminine details. Taking Girl Boss to Girl Moss, the Elsie and Perla combination balances the strength and sharpness of the power suit, with the softness offered by meticulous craftsmanship and premium, nature-based materials.
Designed for longevity, it’s “The kind of suit that will last in your wardrobe for decades”, writes Darke.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Crafted in Portugal, Elsie is fitted to contour the body, with double-stitched darts at the sleeves and body to create a sculptural, structured silhouette while also offering unique detailing.
Finished with our oversized single faux oyster shell button at the neck, adding a distinctively AKYN elevation.

SUSTAINABILITY
The Elsie is available in two timeless colourways –
Classic black, expertly crafted from a considered blend of three of our four hero fibres: responsible wool, European flax linen, and TENCEL™ Lyocell. The perfect fibre mix to transcend seasons – wool brings definition to the tailored form, sculpting the silhouette, while linen and TENCEL™ Lyocell introduce a relaxed softness, adding lightness and ease.
Undyed brown, rich in natural depth, crafted from 100% wool sourced from Portuguese Merino sheep. Spun, woven and sewn entirely in Portugal, the wool has been left undyed, retaining its raw, natural beauty and produced without chemical dyes and excess processing – the perfect celebration of local craftsmanship and inherent natural beauty.
A key hero piece in our collection, the Elsie embodies our commitment to both elevated design principles and best-practice sustainability.
