Circularity

Here at AKYN, Circularity is far more than just resale or repair; it’s an holistic approach that is at the core of our regenerative-focused business model.

Circularity, to us, encompasses how crops are cultivated through regenerative practices, how factories are powered by renewable energy, how waste streams are responsibly managed and how businesses invest in their people and communities.

From our ethical supply chain through to our fibre choices, every stage of our garments’ lifecycle is carefully considered – although as a new brand we are still working on our initiatives for end of life (see our to-do list). Here are some of our approaches to circularity:

Fibres

We craft the AKYN collection using natural, regenerative, and recycled fibres that restore rather than deplete. This includes fibres manufactured in closed loop systems, like TENCEL™-branded Lyocell, recycled natural fibres such as recycled cotton, and regenerative fibres such as regenerative cotton.

We also prioritise the use of biodegradable natural fibres such as organic cotton, European flax and wool.

Where required for durability or technical needs, we use small amounts of recycled synthetics.

Repair

We will always try to help as much as possible should any of our customers need a garment repaired, carrying out repairs in-house at our East London atelier.

See our care guide for advice on looking after your AKYN garments.

Reuse & Resale

We design our timeless styles for longevity, using high quality fabrics to create classic wardrobe staples that we hope will bring joy and confidence to the women who wear them for many years to come. As a new brand we don’t currently have a reuse or resale solution at present, but we’re working on it! Over time we intend to introduce these options to our community, taking responsibility for our garments throughout their lifetime.
